How to Build a Natural Gas Burnout Oven

Ever fancied making your own pizza or a homemade cake? Well, you can not only save big bucks but also make great baked food with a natural gas burnout oven. If you don’t want to spend money on buying one, you can easily make one yourself at home.

The Parts Needed
The very first thing you will need to do is get hold of the parts required to start making your own oven. If you already have an electric oven you can use some of the parts from those to make a new gas burnout oven. Parts like the thermostat, knobs or controls, and the contactors can be salvaged. You also need to procure parts like sealant, hinges, rubber seals, clasps, elements etc. You can procure many of these items either from an existing old oven or online. There are plenty of vendors willing to sell spare parts online. You could also try looking in your local junk stores.

Start Making It
Usually any oven, whether based on electrical or natural gas heating elements, will be made from panels made of fiberglass board wrapped inside sheet metal. While the dimensions of all the panels are going to be different from each other, there will be one edge in each panel which measures the same - 36 inches. You will need to use steel pop rivets for the fasteners. You could also make do with screws for the same purpose. These fasteners are used to keep all the panels together. You will also need a base made of a lightweight frame; the material used is typically metal drywall studs which will also have burner pans present in the open areas of the frame.

Dimensions and Shape
The inner dimensions of the oven need to be around 24 inches in width, 36 inches in height and 72 inches in depth. In total there will be 4 heating elements from which 2 will be visible. You will also need to place a shiny bar halfway across the bottom frame which also acts as an intermediate support mechanism. You will also need a pair of rails which will travel across the entire length of the oven. You will need to have a trolley to transport the item to be baked into the oven.

Bottom Frame
On the bottom frame you need to fit wheels into place to ensure easy transportation of the oven. Try using a 1 and a half inch angle to ensure the wheels protrude more on the bottom portion. There will need to be a few rods and pipes which go upward from the base of the frame; these are used for supporting the coated items. Finally load an ATV frame into the oven frame and place a wheel in to the oven.

The Top Portion
You will need to make provisions for some ventilation on the top part of the oven so that the excess gas can escape. To do this try making a window on the top portion of the oven frame.
